Bonny Putney is Chattahoochee Riverkeeper’s Headwaters Outreach Manager, a Lake Lanier resident and an outdoor enthusiast. Bonny is a part-time employee with CRK’s Gainesville office, helping with headwater projects and various events all over the Chattahoochee River watershed.
In 2009 Bonny started the rain barrel workshop program in conjunction with the Coca-Cola Company. The rain barrel workshop program has placed over 1,000 rain barrels in North Georgia, saved millions of gallons of water and advised homeowners on how to collect rain water and conserve water in their homes and gardens.
Bonny has used her corporate background in handling hazardous waste and materials to help remove trash and litter from Georgia’s waters for over 15 years. She works with the Lake Lanier Association on Shore Sweep, the Georgia Canoe Association on river clean-up events, and is Chairman on the Advisory Board for Georgia’s annual volunteer waterway clean-up, Rivers Alive.
An avid kayaker, Bonny can be found most weekends helping with CRK's paddle trips and river cleanups. She has attended all six Paddle Georgia trips and has paddled most of the Chattahoochee River from the Headwaters to the Gulf of Mexico.
